Family and Community Engagement (F.A.C.E.)

Being a FACE school (Family and Community Engagement) means that your school actively recognises that education is most effective when it is a genuine partnership between students, families, staff, and the wider community. It’s not just about what happens in classrooms, it’s about building a shared responsibility for student learning and wellbeing.

What it Means to Be a FACE School

At a FACE school, we believe that parents and carers are a child’s first and most important educators, and that strong relationships between home, school, and community help every student thrive.

We intentionally create opportunities for:

  • Families to be involved in school life and decision-making
  • Open, respectful communication between teachers and families
  • Partnerships with local organisations, parish, and community groups
  • Shared support for students’ faith, learning, and wellbeing

What “Family Engagement” Looks Like

Family engagement goes beyond attending events, it means:

  • Families feeling welcomed, valued, and heard
  • Regular two-way communication about student learning and wellbeing
  • Opportunities for families to contribute ideas, feedback, and support
  • Helping families understand how to support learning at home

Examples might include:

  • Parent–teacher conversations and workshops
  • Family learning evenings
  • Surveys and consultation opportunities
  • Celebrations of student learning and faith

What “Community Engagement” Looks Like

Community engagement recognises that learning is enriched when we connect beyond the school gate.

This may include:

  • Partnerships with the local parish, organisations, and services
  • Involvement in community events and social justice initiatives
  • Inviting community members to share expertise and experiences
  • Encouraging students to be active, compassionate contributors to society

What It Means for Our School

Being a FACE school means we commit to:

  • Building a welcoming and inclusive environment for all families
  • Strengthening relationships based on trust, respect, and shared purpose
  • Working collaboratively to support each child’s academic, social, emotional, and spiritual growth
  • Living out our values by fostering a strong sense of belonging and connection
